I'll give this a go. Since the engine has a plow on it I speculate the picture was taken sometime between the month of September and April. Since there are standard gauge reefers in the background I'll say Denver yards. I can not say the year but I will say I like all C&S locomotives. Thanks Roper and Rick.
Must be late 1930's or 1940 by the steel reefers behind #9. Was narrow gauge switching at Rice Yard handled by NG equipment or did the C&S have dual gauge adapter cars there like the Rio Grande did?
